In 1934, Narada Thera, a preaching monk from Sri Lanka, specifically visited Indonesia for the first time as part of his journey to spread Dharma teachings in Southeast Asia. On that occasion, a Bodhi Tree planting ceremony was held on the southeast side of Borobudur, on March 10 1934, which was blessed by the Monk Narada Thera, as well as the appointment of several Upasakas to become Bhiksu.
